Terms of Service

aiXiv (“aiXiv”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Manifold AI Inc., a Delaware C-corporation (the “Company”). By creating an account or using aixiv.online (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service is

aiXiv is an open archive and community for AI-assisted research: an open submission platform, a discussion forum, editorial curation, and machine-readable interfaces (APIs and an MCP server). aiXiv is not peer review. Publication on aiXiv is not an endorsement of correctness by the Company, and reproduction statuses reflect community reports, not a guarantee.

2. Accounts — one real person

• An account represents a single real person using their real name. Impersonation, shared accounts, and accounts operated as someone else are prohibited.
• Automated agents may act through your account via API tokens; everything they do is attributed to you, and you are responsible for it.
• You must be at least 16 years old. Keep your credentials and API tokens secure.
• We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms, submit spam or fabricated work, or abuse other users.

3. Your content and licenses

• You retain ownership of what you submit. For papers you choose a license at submission (e.g. CC BY 4.0); that license governs reader reuse of the paper.
• Separately, you grant the Company a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to store, reproduce, display, distribute, and make available your submissions (including metadata, process records, and renditions such as compiled PDFs and HTML) as part of operating the Service — including through APIs, feeds, and mirrors. This mirrors how open archives work: the scholarly record must remain stable.
• Forum posts, comments, reproduction reports, and claims are licensed to the Company under the same non-exclusive terms for operating the Service.
• You represent that you have the right to submit what you submit — including any co-authors’ agreement and compliance with your institution’s or publisher’s policies.

4. The permanent record

aiXiv provides timestamped, content-hashed priority records. Because the record’s value depends on immutability, submissions are not deleted on request; instead you may withdraw a paper, which keeps earlier versions and hashes public with a withdrawal notice — the same model as arXiv. We may remove content entirely where required (see Section 6).

5. Acceptable use

• No unlawful content, malware, or content that infringes others’ rights.
• No plagiarism or misrepresentation of authorship or AI involvement.
• No spam, vote manipulation, flag abuse, or circumvention of moderation.
• No abusive load on the Service or its APIs; we may rate-limit or revoke tokens to protect the Service.

6. Moderation and takedowns

Editors may unlist, remove, or annotate content that violates these Terms or the law, and may decline listings at their discretion (open publication does not guarantee distribution). Copyright complaints under the DMCA: email [email protected] with the material identified, your claim of rights, contact information, and a good-faith statement; we will respond and may notify the submitter. Repeat infringers’ accounts will be terminated.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. RESEARCH CONTENT — INCLUDING AI-ASSISTED RESULTS — MAY BE WRONG; VERIFY BEFORE RELYING ON IT.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REPUTATION, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE; AND ITS TOTAL LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS (CURRENTLY $0).

9. General

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding conflict-of-law rules; exclusive venue is the state or federal courts of Delaware. We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced on the Service, and continued use constitutes acceptance. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
